Mentalism

Mentalism has to be one of the greatest art forms in existence. Why? Because mentalism offers something of interest to everyone who watches and participates. Mentalism is highly interactive and I argue highly visual. You see, people don't view things externally, they view things internally in their minds. Because of this, the drama that a mentalist can provide ensures that all the action takes place within the minds of the entire audience. Maximum audience participation. And that is powerful stuff.

Annemann and Nelson quickly discovered that mentalism also offers great financial reward. Dunninger in his time was reported to be the highest paid performer around. His stage requirements? A table, a chair and a lamp. Oh... and an audience. His fee? $1500.00. A huge amount of money in the 1940's.

Claude Alexander, Rajah Raboid, and many others made fortunes from mentalism. That alone, is a great reason to join the ranks.

But many won't become mentalists for the money. Mentalism also offers great satisfaction because it uses so little "props". It requires showmanship and entertaining skills to achieve success. And for many, that achievement is reward enough.
